    Zephyrs lose late

    Another day, another loss for the Zephyrs.

    The New Orleans Zephyrs couldn't keep their recent winning streak alive, dropping an extra-innings decision against Colorado Springs Tuesday night.

    Jason Nix smoked a solo home run into left field to walk off a Sky Sox 7-6 win over the Zephyrs in 12 innings on Tuesday night. Nix drove home three runs in the game including three hits in the Colorado Springs win.

    Zephyrs get Monday afternoon win

    The Zephyrs are back on the winning track.

    The New Orleans Zephyrs earned their first ninth-inning comeback of the year in a 3-2 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes.

    The New Orleans Zephyrs had not won a game all season when trailing after eight innings. That came to an end on Monday afternoon.

    New Orleans Zephyrs' Field relishes recent success

    Z's pitcher named to Olympic team

    New Orleans Zephyrs starting pitcher Brandon Knight is one of 24 players that will represent the Team USA baseball team in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Aug. 8-24, the team announced in a press release Thursday.

    Knight has appeared in 10 games for the Zephyrs this season, making four
    starts. He is 4-1 with a 1.89 ERA overall. The 33-year-old pitcher joined the Zephyrs on May 29 from the independent Somerset Patriots, of the Atlantic League.



    No pain, no gain

    Zephyrs catcher Raul Casanova missed batting practice Thursday because of a toothache.

    Playing with the pain Wednesday night, he inflicted pain on the Memphis Redbirds.

    Casanova went 3-for-4, hit a grand slam on the levee beyond the center-field fence and a two-run homer over the sign behind the hot tub in right. Also, he hit a line-drive single off the wrist of Memphis starter Clayton Mortensen, who was knocked out of the 10-6 New Orleans victory.

    Zephyrs LHP Collazo Named to PCL All-Star Team

    Collazo becomes the second Zephyr to appear in two Triple-A All-Star Games.
    New Orleans Zephyrs left-hander Willie Collazo has been tabbed the Pacific Coast League's starting pitcher for the Triple-A All-Star Game in Louisville on July 16, the league announced Monday.

    Collazo is 4-6 with a 4.07 ERA and two saves in 25 games for the Zephyrs this season. He was thrust into the starting rotation on May 13 in an emergency start against Sacramento, and went on to make nine more starts for New Orleans, posting a 3-5 record and a 4.33 ERA.

    The 28-year-old southpaw, in his third season in the New York Mets organization and eighth season of professional baseball, also represented the Zephyrs at last year's All-Star Game in Albuquerque.
