    Jury awards $12,500 but finds no civil rights violations in St. Tammany inmate suit

    Man pleads guilty in 2005 fatal wreck on Causeway

    A Franklinton man pleaded guilty on Monday to vehicular homicide and vehicular negligent injuring and received 25 years in prison for a 2005 Lake Pontchartrain Causeway accident that left a car aflame and a Mandeville-area man dead.

    Louisiana gears up for Gustav as it makes landfall in Haiti

    Traffic is flowing well in both directions, and there have been no major accidents, breakdowns or restrictions reported.

    Mandeville recall effort gets underway

    A group of Mandeville citizens has launched an effort to recall Mayor Eddie Price.

    The group's application was approved by the Secretary of State's office this morning. They have 180 days to collect enough signatures to initiate a recall election.

    Causeway clear of Fay-related restrictions

    Authorities have lifted weather-related restrictions from last night to kick off this morning's commute across the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, according to bridge authorities.

    Traffic is flowing well in both directions, and there have been no major accidents, breakdowns or restrictions reported.

    The remains of Fay made for a wet, dreary, windy Sunday. The weather slicked over the roadway and made for a strong crosswind.

    Authorities barred motorcyclists from crossing because of the conditions for several hours.

    Texas man dies in 1-car crash on I-12

    A tropical storm watch is in effect from the mouth of the Pearl River to Grand Isle, including the New Orleans area and Lake Pontchartrain, as Fay maintains strength as it continues to straddle the Gulf of Mexico coastline on its wobbly path from Florida.

    Fay makes Sunday date with North Shore

    Tropical Storm Fay is now expected to take a bit more southerly path along the northern Gulf coast this weekend, with an arrival on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain at mid-day Sunday.
    The worst conditions may be in St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes, where heavy rains and wind gusts of 40 mph are possible beginning Saturday night.
