    Concerts
    Unity in the Community Benefit Concert -- New Generation Fellowship, 1022 S. Bengal Road, Metairie. Louisiana Southern Berith District sponsors a concert to benefit Steven Thomas, assistant minister of music for the state of Louisiana Full Gospel Baptist churches, with performances by Tara Alexander, Nathan Gros, Greater Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church Choir, Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Youth Choir, New Generation Fellowship Choir and many more, 7 tonight. Mr. Thomas and his family were involved in a car accident in April. Call 985.768.8919.

    'Chuck' Carbo, 82, singer for the Spiders
    Hayward "Chuck" Carbo, whose ultra-smooth baritone fronted 1950s New Orleans rhythm & blues quintet the Spiders, died July 11 after a long illness. He was 82.
